I am reading The Prince and The Pauper by Mark Twain.
I know that the book takes place in England in 1547 and a that young Prince Edward switches places unintentionally with a pauper because they almost identical, a theme I've seen in other stories before. I also know that the time period and location also play a big role in the story.
Since the prince is switching places with someone from a low social standard, I predict that he will understand what life in England is really like from a peasant's point of view. I know that royalty were treated with a much higher standard in the 1500's and I think that the prince seeing life outside the castle will be a shock to him. I'm not too sure what the pauper will learn, but I feel that the prince will forever be changed by his experiences as a pauper and when he returns to his throne, he will want to make changes for the better of the people of England rather than just the royalty.
